Optimisim about rising sales over next three years
Dell expects sales of netbooks to rocket over the next three years.
Vice President and General Manager Phil Bryant told a press conference in Paris that he expects sales of the small notebook computers to quadruple by 2012.
So far netbooks have taken off most in Europe, with 80 per cent of the netbooks sold in the last year being purchased in Western Europe.
Dell, which previously was noted for refusing to sell its computers in shops, also announced today that its products are now available in 30,000 stores worldwide.
“Two years ago, that number was zero”, said Mr Bryant. “Now it's really hard to imagine how we did business in any other way”.
