Economy drive in the fast lane
Internet service provider (ISP) Plusnet has launched an 8Mbits/sec broadband service for £5.99 a month.
The ISP said it was responding to customer concerns about the economy and their bills. It said people wanted to cut down on spending but not give up broadband.
There will be no connection charge for Plusnet Value customers, who will also be given a wireless router and a monthly usage allowance of up to 10GB. For people who don’t want a capped download limit, can upgrade to Plusnet Unlimited which costs £11.99 a month.
Anthony Vollmer, Plusnet's chief executive officer, said: "People are determined to keep their access to the internet via broadband come what may. The web is probably the best job research facility ever invented and, combined with its ability to track down shopping bargains, is the ultimate weapon for families against the current downturn."
