Touchscreen handset free with operator's Combi and Flext price plans
T-Mobile’s G1 phone, which uses Google’s Android operating system, went on sale this morning.
The handset has a Qwerty keyboard and its full touchscreen provides access to favourite Google applications, including web search, Google Maps and Google Talk.
The phone is free on T-Mobile’s Combi and Flext price plans, which start at £40 a month. This includes unlimited fast mobile internet.
However, the network operator has set a 'soft' cap on the internet download allowance. It currently stands at 3GB per month, but there are no surplus charges or cuts to the service if a user exceeds this limit.
T-Mobile said if a user does go over the limit they will be contacted to make sure they are not accidentally over-using the service, for example by downloading a film.
If a user continually exceeds the download limit they will be offered a package with a higher download limit.
