AOL launches classified ad service

Consumers can now search through local classified listings for every postcode in the UK and post their own adverts free of charge.

AOL Classifieds lets users search for properties to buy or let, tickets for concerts, jobs and even pets.

It was developed in partnership with classifieds service Oodle and is said to provide access to more than 40 million listings, taken from more than 80,000 different sites.

Chris Spanos, general manager of AOL Local and Specialty Verticals, said: " With the current economic climate, providing consumers with an easy way to buy and sell merchandise and services, or make local connections through classifieds, is becoming even more important.

"AOL Classifieds is a trusted outlet that gives sellers an extensive marketplace to reach their audience and gives buyers access to millions of listings."
