Rumour mill in overdrive over Android update for HTC Desire
HTC’s UK press office remains baffled by the rumours flying around the web that the company and Google have “officially confirmed” the HTC Desire smartphone will get the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system upgrade by the 23 June.
Various sites and blogs are repeating the story that an HTC rep 'whispered' or 'let it slip' that owners of the Desire handset should get ready for the update.
The upgrade promises, among other things, to improve the ability to transfer a user's personal data with new applications, provide better access to web applications and automatic updates.
But the only official response we can get from the handset manufacturer is “as soon as we know we will let you know”.
The company representative we spoke to didn't dismiss the truth of the stories but said: “We are not saying these rumours are not true but none of them can be backed up, which makes us suspicious. If it's 'official' we haven't seen the statement and we have been unable to find the source,” an HTC press officer told us.

Google confirms?
I am unable to find the news of Google confirming the update date for HTC desire? I like the story, and it puts some pressure on HTC which is always good since hopefully we will see that update sooner :D, who knows maybe the Hero owners will see an update as well.
