Fraudsters targeting West Yorkshire with 'missed delivery' cards asking customers to call a premium-rate phone number
The parcel delivery scam tricking people into calling a premium-rate phone number has resurfaced; this time in the West Yorkshire area, according to Phonepayplus.
The phone-paid services regulator said it had received complaints from members of the public who had received a yellow parcel delivery card. This informs householders that the courier has been unable to deliver a parcel.
The recipient is then encouraged to call a premium-rate number which costs £1.50 per minute.
This scam has been carried out over a number of years, usually around Christmas and in different parts of the country. The fraudsters often post the card through the letterbox but the message can arrive by email as well.
Phonepayplus has been in contact with the network operator through whom the number, 09066641142, operates. The operator immediately agreed to switch off the number and withhold any revenue generated on the number pending further investigation.
Phonepayplus is now asking consumers, whether they live in West Yorkshire or elsewhere in the UK, to contact it on 0800 500 212 (Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm), or via its website, if they receive a parcel delivery card with this number or any other number beginning 09 on it.

Parcel deliverys
Hi Some time ago when omega express was running,I ordered a printer from pc world, nothing wrong with that, but on checking the parcel delivery advice on the net to see how it was going,,tracked it from hatfield in and out, arrived in exeter at 0100am in the morning, then when i looked again out on del, they used to come round here about 1300 hrs,so made sure i was in ,anyway the del never arrived by 4pm so checked again and found the parcel had been returned to the depot as there was nobody home,(and i was here painting the windows all day),so phoned the area no and explained, and he was fair,as he was horrified about what had happened,so gave me the exeter no to ring,on doing so they said they couldnt check with the driver as he was gone home, but would speak to him the next morning, anyway about 1300 hrs the van came, chap knocked on the door, went and opened it and he stood there with the parcel,so i asked what happened yesterday, and he turned the parcel round and it siad del by 9pm and they dont work that time,so took the parcel inside, and when he said sign here told him to come back tomorrow,so after some consideable discuissions with his manager I scribbled on has book, but guess what its the same people now running DHL
