Viewpad 7 and 10 tablets run both Android and Windows 7 operating systems
Two new tablets running Windows 7 and Android will be available in time for Christmas.
The Viewpad 7 and Viewpad 10, both from Viewsonic are due for release on 15 and 1 November respectively.
The Viewpad 7 runs Google's Android 2.2 operating system and has full phone capabilities if a Sim card is connected. The device has a 600MHz processor, 512MB of Ram and 512MB of flash storage as well as a micro-SD card port to add extra capacity.
Wifi, 3G and GPS are included and the tablet is expected to have a battery life of between four and six hours depending on usage.
The larger Viewpad 10 has a 1.66GHz Intel processor, 1GB of memory and 16GB of SSD storage. Pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, the tablet also runs Android 1.6. Both operating systems are installed and users can boot from either.
Also included with the Viewpad 10 is Wifi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, a mini VGA port and two USB2 connections. It has a recommended retail price of £500. People can save more than £100 on the price of either device by trading in old laptops and netbooks through the Viewpad upgrade program.
