Two new Vaio L models will have Windows 7 installed
Sony has announced a new desktop PC with a huge 24in touchscreen display.
The new Vaio L has a display resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels, so it can display 1080P high-definition video. One model includes a built-in Blu-ray disc player for showing high-definition movies.
Like Apple's iMac, the Vaio L's computer components are built into the back of the display so there's need for a separate unit. A wireless keyboard and remote control are included.
Two models will be available. The VPC-L11M1E/S has a Core 2 Duo E7500 processor and a DVD burner, while the VPC-L11S1E/S adds an E8400 processor, Blu-ray reader and Freeview digital TV tuner. Both have 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard disk.
Both will be sold with Windows 7 Home Premium, and will be available from the Windows 7 launch day on 22 October. Sony refuses to announce prices for its products.
