In two hundred yards turn left – you have now found the centre of Europe
A family is embarking on a journey to find the centre of Europe using a satellite GPS system.
Husband and wife Justin Leighton and Maia Sissons, along with two other family members, will use the Navman N60i on their journey to discover the centre of Europe.
They also intend to use the N60i's integrated Navpix technology to photograph interesting points they find in every country they visit.
This will include places of interest, restaurants, and hotels which will then be loaded onto Navman’s NavPix library for other Navman users to view and download.
The family’s journey will consist of two trips, first looking at the centre of Europe as a political entity (believed to be a field near Gelnhausen in Germany), before examining the ways towns and cities have measured their location in order to declare themselves at the centre of Europe.
It will also take the family to the Europas Parkas in Lithuania, which is currently considered to be the ‘true’ centre of the continent.
The family will record details of their journey in a blog, with video content and pictures.
