The public can also vote for their favourite online diarist
Blogs written by disgruntled commuters and about wife-finding schemes have found their way onto the shortlist for the Best of Brit Blog Awards of 2007, announced on Wednesday.
The 'BOBBs', sponsored by search engine Ask and the Metro newspaper, set out to recognise some of the UK’s most informative, funny, fashionable, personal and bizarre blogs and turn their creators into household names.
More than 1,000 nominations were sent in by members of the public from which a shortlist in the categories of politics, fashion, travel, youth, sport and arts and entertainment was drawn up by a panel of judges which included England cricketer Alastair Cook, TV presenter Jason Bradbury and Alan McGee.
Among the blogs in line to win an award is one written by Disgruntled Commuter and the adventures of Alan Wills, who is travelling the world going on as many dates as possible in search of a wife.
The winners will be chosen by the judges but one category, Weird and Wonderful, is in the gift of the public, who can vote for their favourite by logging onto the Metro website.
The winners will be announced in the week commencing 23 April 2007.
