Bundle is cheaper than other service providers, company claims
BT has launched a landline and mobile broadband bundle, which it claims is the UK’s cheapest.
BT Total Broadband gives users wireless landline speeds of up to 8Mbits/sec and 1GB of downloads for mobile broadband per month. It costs £15.65 and is based on an 18-month contract. According to BT's calculations this totals £308.88 compared to the £528.48 charged by Orange and Virgin’s £435.
John Petter, managing director of BT's consumer division, said: "This is an absolutely fantastic deal – the most complete home and mobile broadband for only 56p a day is a no-brainer."
The mobile broadband service runs on Vodafone's HSDPA network, which offers speeds of up to 7.2Mbits/sec and covers 80 per cent of the UK, including areas such as London, Bristol and Birmingham. People that can’t access this will be able to go online via 3G.
BT said the 1GB monthly data limit is enough to surf the web for 400 minutes, download one film, 48 photos and 144 songs. It said users looking for more than 1GB per month can pay more to top up their plan. Prices for this start at £50.
