Samsung has launched a mobile phone for children.

The Tobi has been designed for children aged six and over and comes with a range of security features.

This includes an SOS button, which can be used to make a call to a family member if a child is in trouble. Children can also send a pre-defined emergency text message to an allocated recipient, by pressing a button.

Once the text is received the person calls the child and will be connected straight away. The phone will not ring and the child will not have to press any buttons to answer. This could help the child, in an extreme case such as kidnap, as the caller could still hear what is going on even if the child has been unable to pick up on their own accord.

The Tobi also comes with features to block text messages, which Samsung claims will help prevent text bullying.

There is also a fakecall button, which makes the phone ring as if someone was calling to help children get out of difficult situations

There is also a changeable back cover that lets children insert a photo under the see-through protective sleeve on the back to customise the phone.

It has a user interface with three animated characters in three themes; Monster, Snowman and Ocean World.

It has a camera, music player, memory card support and Bluetooth.
It costs £70 and is available on pay-as-you-go.
