Whistle Blower website ordered to tune out

A US website for whistle blowers has been ordered offline by a Californian court.

Wikileaks was formed by journalists, mathematicians and scientists in 2006. It has published leaked government and company documents including information about UK bank Northern Rock.

Following complaints from Swiss banking group Julius Baer after the site posted documents about its offshore activities, the US court order forced web host Dynadot to pull Wikileaks from its servers.

It also ordered Dynadot to block the domain name to prevent it being transferred to another web-hosting company.

However, the site is not going out without a fight. Material from the website is still visible on several back-up sites, based in countries such as India and Belgium. The site can also be accessed at its numerical address.
