Search giant launches new online energy tool
Google has launched a new tool that will help people monitor their domestic energy consumption via their broadband connection.
The Google Powermeter software receives information from smart meters provided by utility companies as well as in-home energy management devices and maps this information on a personalised iGoogle homepage.
Currently only users of energy supplier First Utility, which is supplying its customers with free smart meters can use the tool; however other utlity companies are expected to sign up.
