3D LED TV sets will also support iPlayer and record shows to any USB storage device
Samsung will launch 3D Full High Definition (1080P) LED televisions in the UK starting in March.
Three models have been announced: the C9000, C8000 and C7000. All three include the company's Internet@TV system, allowing them to display videos downloaded directly from the internet, and can also record programmes directly to any connected USB storage device.
The C9000's screen is "as thin as a pencil" (0.3in). It also includes a remote control with its own 3in touchscreen display. The remote control can connect to a wireless network, and can be used as a keyboard for social-networking services on the television.
In the UK Internet@TV will support streaming television shows from the BBC iPlayer and film rentals from DVD rental service Lovefilm. Technology inside the sets can convert standard 2D pictures to a 3D image.
At the company's annual conference in Vienna, Boo Keun Yoon, the chief of Samsung's visual display division, declared 2010 the year of 3D LED television. He said that Samsung would be first to the European market with its products. All high-end Samsung televisions will now support 3D.
He added that the company is "working with content partners like Dreamworks to make content such as Monsters Versus Aliens available to Samsung 3D customers ".
As part of a deal first unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronics Show this Dreamworks film will be exclusively available in a bundle with some Samsung 3D televisions.
No prices have been announced for the new products. A company representative told journalists at the company's annual conference in Vienna that the premium over existing high-end sets would be "very reasonable".
