Games company offers new straps for broken ones
Nintendo will replace any broken wrist straps for its new console, the Wii.
The console uses a motion-sensitive controller, which is attached to the player's arm with a small strap.
However, in the week since its launch, several users across the world have reported problems with the straps, with some people claiming that, due to enthusiastic play, the controllers have slipped out of their hands and damaged expensive television sets.
The company says that if the straps are used correctly there shouldn't be any problems, but it has said that all broken straps will be replaced free of charge. New consoles will include an 'enhanced' strap that won't break so easily.
Although the announcement was first reported as a recall of all straps, Nintendo will actually only be replacing broken ones. Some two million Wii units have already been sold with Nintendo aiming to double that figure before the end of 2006.
