Epson has launched two printers in the Stylus Photo range, together with special new Intellidge inks, which it claims will make your printouts last even longer.
The cheaper of the two printers is the Stylus Photo 870, which can print on paper up to A4 size and is claimed to produce up to nine pages per minute in black with only a slight decrease in speed for colour. It comes with a paper roll holder designed to make it easier to use special coated papers and to print right to the edge of photo-sized sheets.
LivePix 2.1 software is also included to help you improve pictures before they are printed. The Stylus Photo 1270 comes with Adobe's Photoshop 5.0 LE software and can print on A3-size paper. It costs £400, compared to £240 for the Photo 870. Both models are compatible with PC and Macintosh computers and have parallel and USB ports.
The new ink cartridges include a special computer chip which Epson says helps ensure more efficient use of ink which has been formulated to allow your printouts to be exposed to ordinary light for 10 years without fading.
