Forcefield to protect web users

Check Point hopes the force will be with you online

Check Point Software Technologies has released a free public beta of a browser security tool that it promises will protect users from phishing attacks and spyware.

Called ZoneAlarm Forcefield, the tool puts the browser in a sandbox and blocks phishing websites or those embedded with malware, warns of dangerous downloads, and stops keyloggers from stealing keystrokes and making screen-grabs, so its maker says it is possible to shop and bank online without fear of attack.

Check Point says Forcefield adds further protection by erasing all personal information after the user has finished browsing the web. The software tool works with both Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers.

The product also works in conjunction with any brand of antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall and security suite including the complete line of ZoneAlarm solutions. ZoneAlarm Forcefield is currently compatible with PCs only.

The final version of the product is expected to become available in early 2008 when it will sell for around £15 ($29.95).
