Lindy Electronics has developed an adjustable Notebook Cooler it claimed is suitable for most 7in to 15in laptops.

The device has a single quiet fan that for cooling the laptop and it also assists further passive cooling and heat dissipation by allowing air to flow freely underneath the computer at the same time.

Heat can cause severe damage to laptops and Lindy said the cooler will put an end to many of the problems this causes; such as warped DVD drives, dry soldered joints and even melting casings.

The cooler’s fold-away design makes it easy for users to place their machine where the additional cooling is required, yet the device is still small enough to fit into a laptop bag.

Andrew Ingram, Lindy’s product manager said: "Today’s powerful laptops can generate a vast amount of heat, which can have a serious impact on performance and the lifetime of the machine, if not dealt with correctly.

"In making notebooks that are cheaper and lighter, more plastic is increasingly being used in their manufacture and this is also contributing to the problem.”

The cooler is powered via an integrated USB cable and has adjustable rubber pads to hold the laptop securely when in use and a tilt feature for additional comfort.

The single 2,300 RPM fan operates at less than 20dBA. The device costs £14.99 and can be bought from Lindy’s UK and Irish websites.
