Kaspersky Lab has announced a new, top-of-the-range security suite with added features.

The product, Kaspersky Pure, includes everything found in the computer security firm's original Kaspersky Internet Security suite, plus more features. These include advanced parental controls, a backup tool, a password manager, permanent file deletion and an encryption tool.

Company vice president Roger Wilson said the new program is designed to remove what he called "digital pollution" and is for households with more than one PC.

"This product will clean up all the bad stuff from your digital life," he told Computeractive.

A single designated user can manage the parental control settings on several computers from one PC. The encryption tool, Cryptostorage, creates a single " container" file whose contents are scrambled using AES-128 encryption.

Once the key is entered - normally by plugging in a USB memory key - it appears as a normal drive on the computer, allowing files inside to be opened.

Unlike many other security suites, Pure does not include online backup. Mr Wilson claimed that surveys conducted by the company showed that this kind of storage "wasn't the need". Instead Kaspersky's backup tool can be used to back up to any local storage device.

Other tools include a tune-up function that can delete temporary internet files, a permanent file deletion tool and a function that checks the security of a wireless network.

No prices have been confirmed, but the company said that Pure would cost approximately 20 euros (about £18) more than its Kaspersky Internet Security suite when released at the end of the month.
