Popular music streaming service removed or quarantined by anti-virus software
Spotify users protected by Symantec security software were horrified this morning to find the software had tagged the popular music streaming service as a Trojan and removed or quarantined it.
Symantec Security Response confirmed the issue was what is called a false positive after Spotify users used Twitter to alert the company to the problem. It said it has now fixed the issue.
Paul Murgatroyd, Symantec regional product manager posted a response on Twitter: “If you are running Norton 2009 or later then you should get the new definitions via your pulse updates shortly.
"If you are running SEP or SAV, then Rapid Release definitions have just been released dated 28/01/2010 rev. 2 - these also have the fix included. They will be included in the next full release for both SEP and SAV."
If Norton has quarantined or removed Spotify, it will either need to be re-installed or recovered from the quarantine.

AVG Thinks it is a trojan too
The Resident Shield in the free version of AVG also identifies Spotify as a trojan and will try to quarantine it. I had to remove Spotify from the computer as AVG kepr on flagging it up but was unable to quarantine or remove it.
