i3 and i5 for Inspiron plus high-end portable Alienware laptop
Dell has power announced a new range of computers for 2010 and beyond that place the emphasis on power and portability.
The Inspiron series will see the introduction of i3 and i5 processors while the Studio will be upgraded with the i7.
The Mini 10 series is to receive an HD facelift, with high resolution
displays and a graphics accelerator to give consumers access to high-quality
content on the move.
The company also announced a portable gaming laptop under the Alienware brand.
The Alienware M11X has a hotswitch that converts it from a standard laptop with more than 9 hours of battery life, according to Dell, to a gaming PC that can handle the latest 3D games at over 30 frames-per-second in HD.
The M11X uses a low-powered processor and diverts most thermal cooling to the Nvidia GT 335M graphics chip. No reboot is required to activate the gaming mode. The M11X is expected to launch in Spring 2010 at under $1,000, with no UK pricing and availability as yet announced.
Dell also gave a preview of a range of slate-style tablet PCs, starting at screen sizes of 5 inches running a customised version of Google’s Android operating system. Dell said it would not commit on a market date for the slate range, but said it was committed to bringing more featires to consumers in smaller computers.
