Take a Virgin 'souped up taxi' and go to work in style
Virgin Media is set to lead commuters into the fast lane tomorrow, Thursday 28 October, with a fleet of 'supercar' taxis, available for the public to hail free.
The stunt, which marks the launch of the internet service provider’s ultra-fast 100Mbits/sec UK broadband service will bring a fleet of the finest cars to the streets of London. The fleet includes a Porsche 997 Turbo Gen 1, Ferrari 430 F1 Coupe and Aston Martin DBS, which will be driven around Central London.
What the company is calling its “souped-up black hackney cabs” have the iconic yellow taxi light indicating availability so that people lucky enough to spot an empty one can flag it down. They can be driven in style to their chosen destination within Central London; free.
People will have to wait a bit longer for the new 100Mbits/sec service which won’t go on sale until December.
But Virgin claimed the service “will propel the UK up the global broadband league table.”
