The AverTV HD Volar A867R USB TV tuner allows PC users to watch and record Freeview TV, convert video for mobile devices and record programmes, all through the remote control
Avermedia has announced a TV tuner that turns a PC into a television, with most of the functions accessible by using a remote control.
When the AverTV HD Volar A867R is plugged into a USB port of a computer running Windows 7 or Vista with Windows Media Center, users can switch between Freeview (DVB-T) television and playback of DVDs or videos on their computer using just the remote control.
As with a digital video recorder such as Sky+, recordings can be scheduled and live TV can be ‘paused’.
The Volar comes with an electronic programme guide (EPG), Teletext, and can both watch and record high-definition (HD) television.
It can also switch on a computer that is in hibernate or standby mode in order to record a programme at a certain time.
Recorded video can be converted into a file format compatible with Apple's iPod or Sony’s Sony's Playstation Portable.
The AverTV HD Volar will cost £49.99.
