Sky has launched a website that lets people see how the recession is affecting their area.

The Sky News Job Map gives people information about the number of job losses and gains from each company in the UK. According to Sky the idea behind the site is to let people know where jobs may be available.

People can search by region, date and job sector on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. They can also find out more information about a company by clicking on the links provided. However, they cannot search for jobs.

The site is constantly updated using data from business information provider Mandis.
The data is based upon business trading statements, news reports and other corporate announcements. It is also said to include more than 100 daily announcements of liquidations and receivership.
