Changes at the top for the search engine giant as Eric Schmidt becomes executive chairman
Google founder Larry Page is to replace current CEO Eric Schmidt in April, the company announced today.
Schmidt, who has been in the role since April, will now become executive chairman.
Announcing the decision in a blog post, Schmidt wrote: "I am enormously proud of my last decade as CEO, and I am certain that the next 10 years under Larry will be even better ... Larry, in my clear opinion, is ready to lead.
Larry, Sergey and I have worked exceptionally closely together for over a decade-and we anticipate working together for a long time to come"
The company announced that Page would now lead "product development and technology strategy" whilst his fellow co-founder, Sergey Brin will work on new products.
