HTC launches smartphones with one-touch Facebook access

Chacha and Salsa smartphones have two cameras for video chats

One-touch Facebook access is on the way to two new HTC smartphones, the HTC Chacha and HTC Salsa.

The new handsets have been "built entirely to be social" and include a button that has the sole function of opening up social-networking site Facebook. A light on the button will flash when content a user is looking at can be shared on Facebook. Pressing the button will then let users update a status, or upload a photo.

Both the Chacha and the Salsa have two cameras, so they can be used for video-calling and online video-chat. The Chacha is the smaller of the two models, with a 2.6in screen while the Salsa's screen measures 3.4in.

"HTC has always understood that different people want different things and the new HTC Chacha and Salsa offer special new ways to experience Facebook on a mobile device," said Peter Chou, chief executive officer of HTC.

The two new smartphones will run on Android's new operating system, called Gingerbread.

Both the Salsa and the Chacha will be available in Europe in the second quarter of this year.
