Online service broadcasts live and catch-up BBC and commercial radio stations
Radioplayer, an online radio service that brings together hundreds of stations from across the country, has launched today.
The service is a parthership between the BBC and a number of commercial radio stations. All local and national services from the BBC are available alongside stations such as Captial FM, Absolute Radio and Xfm.
The Radioplayer service also carries a number of local commercial stations from various parts of the UK.
As well as live shows, some stations also offer a catch-up service so users can listen to shows that have already been broadcast. All the content can be searched by genre, network or presenter, with live and catch-up content displayed side-by-side.
The player, which runs entirely in an internet browser, requires Adobe Flash to work.
Radioplayer chairman Andrew Harrison said the service was aiming to include the whole of UK radio within a year.
"Every station on Radioplayer will be one click away from every other station, and listeners will have the ability to search the whole of UK radio, discovering exciting new content," he said.
Michael Hill, the managing director of Radioplayer, said the service could soon be available on mobile phones, tablets and hybrid radios.
