Flickr group captures the 'people's view' of the Royal Wedding

Upload pictures of your royal wedding celebrations to a special Flickr album

Regent Street
The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton takes place on April 29

Flickr users can share their own Royal Wedding experiences and win £5,000 in the process.

The People's Royal Wedding Album is a special group that has been set up on photo-sharing website Flickr. The aim of the album is to capture the "people's view" of the Royal Wedding.

The wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton takes place on 29 April and is expected to attract a global TV audience of around two billion people, as well as bringing huge crowds to the streets of London.

Flickr is encouraging people to upload pictures of themselves enjoying the Royal Wedding no matter how they're celebrating; be it in front of the TV, on the streets of London, at a street party or getting on a plane to escape on holiday.

Flickr says that while the British Monarchy's Flickr page will offer the official pictures, this group will give the alternative view of the people.

Also, UK entrants will be entered into a competition to win a £5,000 honeymoon (or equivalent). The competition will be judged by the BBC's former Royal Correspondent, Jennie Bond.

Talking about the wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton, she said: "I remember the party atmosphere and feeling of celebration that swept the country in 1981 when Charles and Diana said ‘I do'.

"Thirty years on, Flickr's ‘People's Royal Wedding Album' will provide a snapshot of what a royal wedding means to the country and provides an amazing public album of all the different ways we choose to spend the day and the weekend."
