Iconic WWII code-breaking centre unveils rebuilt fully-functional machine
A new gallery that has been opened at Bletchley Park will give visitors to the museum the chance to see the code-breaking Tunny machine in action.
The Tunny gallery commemorates the achievements of the Bletchley Park code-breakers who deciphered the Lorenz-encrypted messages sent between Hitler and his generals during World War II.
This remarkable achievement is credited as shortening the war by as much as two years; and in the process saving millions of lives. The original Tunny machine produced the plain text German messages from the code breaking process.
Now that the machine has been rebuilt and is fully functional, visitors to Bletchley Park will be able to see the code breaking process in action; just as it happened during the war.
