Exclusive interview: Bill Kircos talks netbooks, tablets and more.
The 100 millionth 'netbook' laptop will soon be sold, according to the chip giant Intel.
In an exclusive interview the company's Bill Kircos told Computeractive that he expected netbooks to continue thriving despite the onslaught of tablet computers.
"I don't think it's going to end", he said. "I think it's going to evolve. We'll hit our 100 millionth netbook sale in the world in less than a three year period - that's very fast growth, very fast adoption".
He also said that using the company's new Cedar Trail Atom processors, due later this year, "you'll be able to do a fanless netbook for the first time - 10 hours battery life, 30 days of standby. We're adding wireless display so you can beam your netbook screen to your TV".
Mr Kircos also discussed the company's Sandy Bridge processors and the product recall that followed their launch and his predictions for 2012.
