Shuttle demonstrates new miniature desktop PCs

USB 3, high-definition and multiple-monitor support among the upgrades

Computer maker Shuttle has been demonstrating its new models of miniature desktop computers, including one that can display an image on three monitors.

The XPC SA76R4 (pictured above) uses an AMD Fusion processor and the same company's 760G chipset to output to three displays. That kind of performance is unusual for a 'small form factor' PC.

Other models, which use Intel processors, include the SH61R4, pictured below. This is an updated version of Shuttle's existing SH41. The more expensive SH667H3 has an aluminium body, eSata connections and supports Intel's latest Sandy Bridge processors.

Both of those, along with the higher-end SX587 Pro have USB 3 sockets for fast data transfer between devices.

Also on display at the Computex trade show were the XS35GT, a very slim computer that can be mounted on to the rear of any VESA-compatible television or monitor. Shuttle has built anti-vibration technology into this model, which can also stand on its side on a desk or table.

Two all-in-one computers are to be released - the X50V2 Plus has an Intel Atom D525 processor and 15.6in touch-sensitive screen, while the X50V2 PL has the same specifications but with a standard, not touch-sensitive, screen. Both are designed to be quiet in operation, with fan-less bodies.
