British computer game developer Codemasters, which was hacked earlier this month, has warned customers its website will be offline "for the foreseeable future".

An investigation by the company, which produces the official Formula 1 game, showed that information such as customers' names, addresses, date of birth, email addresses, telephone numbers, encrypted passwords and Xbox Live Gamertags may all have been compromised.

However Codemasters said no customers' personal payment information was stored on the site so these were safe.
