AlertMe launches national energy monitoring panel

Company giving away 100 online monitors to families who want to take part in study on energy usage

Electricity consumption
Households can monitor energy usage in real time online

AlertMe is offering 100 families an online energy monitor to be a part of a national panel, which will monitor how people manage their energy consumption.

The AlertMe monitor, which costs £50, allows people to access data online or via a smartphone and work out what their energy consumption is and how much they are spending in real-time.

As part of the study, families will be asked to take part in four challenges, each of which will last from one to four weeks; for example asking the household to live on an energy budget set by the company.

Normally one of the monitors comes with an 18 month subscription which is free for the first six months; after this it costs £2 a month. But there will be no fee for a year for people chosen for the panel.
