Premium rate content complaints fall over two years

Complaints about premium rate telephone services (PRS) have declined by 77 per cent over two years, according to PhonepayPlus.

The premium service regulator said its Annual Report also showed a 74 per cent decrease in the number of serious fines against premium content providers. The news comes the regulator gears up to introduce its new Code of Practice for premium rate service operators and providers.

From 1 September, all network operators and providers operating premium rate services in the UK must be registered with PhonepayPlus. The only current exemption to this rule is for network operators or providers who only provide services on the 0871/2/3 number ranges.
