Legal battle continues as Samsung claims foul-play and attempts to block the sale of the new iPhone 4S
Samsung is attempting to block the sale of the new Apple iPhone 4S after it claimed the product infringed two of its patents.
This is the latest development in a long-running dispute between the two companies that has seen Samsung products banned in parts of Europe and in Australia. Apple has previously claimed that Samsung "slavishly" copied various aspects of the iPhone, iPad and iOS operating system.
Samsung said it was filing preliminary injunctions in France and Italy, requesting that courts block the sale of the Apple iPhone 4S.
The company claims Apple has infringed on patents relating to wireless telecommunications technology. Samsung added that this technology was "essential to the reliable functioning of telecom networks and devices".
In a statement issued about the legal action, Samsung said Apple's violations were "too severe" and that the iPhone 4S should be barred from sale.
"Apple has continued to flagrantly violate our intellectual property rights and free ride on our technology. We believe it is now necessary to take legal action to protect our innovation.
"Samsung plans to file preliminary injunctions in other countries after further review."
