The Galaxy Nexus, which runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, has been shown for the first time
The first smartphone to use the latest version of the Android operating system, called Ice Cream Sandwich, has been announced today.
The Galaxy Nexus has been designed by Samsung and has a 4.65" display, 5 megapixel camera, 1080p video recording, facial recognition and better integration of the Google + social network.
Apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Earth, Movie Studio, Youtube and Google Calendar will all be supported and the Galaxy Nexus will also support video ‘hang-outs' or chats through Google +.
A major new feature in Android Ice Cream Sandwich is support for NFC technology. NFC, which stands for near field communication, lets users exchange websites, contact info, directions and other pieces of information between compatible devices by simply touching them together.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available in the UK from November with a price yet to be announced.
