The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is smaller and lighter than a lot of Android tablets

Christmas shoppers looking for tablet PCs will have even more choice as Motorola announces the Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 Media Edition.

Both tablets run Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and have 1.2GHz dual core processors. The Xoom 2 has a 10.1" HD display while the Xoom 2 Media Edition has a smaller 8.2" HD screen.

The Media Edition has a screen specially designed for video with wider viewing angles so more than one person can see the screen.

Both tablets have two cameras, a 1.3MP front-facing camera and a 5MP camera with flash on the back. There is also 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for videos, photos, music and applications.

At 599g the Xoom 2 is significantly heavier than the more portable Xoom 2 Media Edition, which weighs 386g. The Media Edition comes with an application called Motocast, which is used for accessing and streaming files from a PC or a Mac to the tablet.

Both the Motorola Xoom 2 and the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition will be available in the UK from mid-November, but specific prices are yet to be announced.
