Consumers get the choice to view movies on PCs, tablets, games consoles and phones
Netflix is on course to launch a service that will enable UK viewers to watch films online in early in 2012.
The movie streaming service has agreed a multi-year licensing agreement with film studio Lionsgate UK to provide a subscription service. Consumers will be able to watch films on a range of devices including internet-enabled TVs, tablet computers, PCs, games consoles and mobile phones.
The partnership with Lionsgate and other movie studios will see films such as The Expendables 2 brought to the service within a year of their initial release.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, said: "We are proud to be the exclusive Pay TV home for Lionsgate theatrically-released films in the UK and Ireland."
