Users offered free month trial of new movie streaming service
The popular US movie streaming service Netflix has launched in the UK offering users a one month free trial.
The service, which allows people to stream movies and TV programmes to a number of devices, will normally cost £5.99 a month. But for this people can watch as many shows as they want. To get the month's free trial users need to have a Facebook account.
Earlier last year Netflix had agreed a multi-year licensing agreement with film studio Lionsgate UK to provide a subscription service. The partnership with Lionsgate and other movie studios will see films such as The Expendables 2 brought to the service within a year of their initial release.
Consumers will be able to watch films on a range of devices including internet-enabled TVs, tablet computers, PCs, games consoles and mobile phones.
At that time, Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, said: "We are proud to be the exclusive Pay TV home for Lionsgate theatrically-released films in the UK and Ireland."
