A new Sony Walkman running on the Android 2.3 system is coming to the UK
Android isn't just for smartphones and tablets; already at CES Polaroid has announced an Android camera and now Sony has confirmed the UK and US release of its Android-powered media player.
The Z1000 Walkman, which is already available in Japan, has a 4.3 inch LCD touchscreen and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has full access to the Android Market and connects to the internet using Wifi.
The media player has a dedicated music playback button labelled 'W', which launches a Sony music application. There's also a micro HDMI port for connecting the Walkman to an HD television.
In the USA the 8G Z Series will cost $249.99 (£163) with the 16GB and 32GB models priced at $279.99 (£182) and $329.99 (£215) respectively. The Z100 will be available in the next few months in the US and UK, with pricing details for the UK yet to be announced.
