Clothing retailer urges customers to change passwords
US clothing company Zappos has become the latest online retailer to be hit by hackers leaving the personal details of as many as 24m customer accounts at risk
It is feared that the security breach means not only customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping and billing addresses may have been compromised but also the last four digits of their card numbers.
Reports indicate that the hackers gained access to the Amazon-owned company's network via one of its servers in Kentucky.
Chief executive, Tony Hsieh, blogged early on Monday with a link to the "security incident email" he sent to Zappos employees. However the contents of the message on the blog cannot be viewed as the company has blocked access to this.
Customers of the company are being told by Zappos that they should change their password as soon as possible.
