Sky's on-demand video service will welcome catch-up TV from the BBC and ITV
BBC iPlayer and ITV Player are to be added to Sky's Anytime+ service before Easter, the satellite broadcaster announced today.
Sky said that it had reached new agreements with both the BBC and ITV allowing it to add the catch-up TV services. Customers will be able to access ITV Player from tomorrow, with BBC iPlayer being added ‘later this year'.
Alongside the new services, Sky also said it was making Anytime+ available to more customers. The new services will be available to around five million Sky+ HD homes with an internet connection, regardless of broadband provider.
Jeremy Darroch, chief executive of Sky said the company was ‘delighted' to add the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player services, adding that it allowed people to watch terrestrial TV ‘whenever they want'.
