Panasonic has announced a new Android smartphone for Europe, the ELUGA power.

The phone has a 5 inch HD screen with a 1.5Ghz dual core processor. It will run the latest version of Android designed for smartphones, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. At its thinnest point the ELUGA power is 9.6mm thick with Panasonic claiming the phone combines 'both high performance and high-end style'.

There is also an 8 megapixel camera that can record video in 1080p HD video. The phone also has NFC for making contactless payments. Another feature is the phone is so-called 'superfast' charging, with a 50 per cent charge taking around 30 minutes. The ELUGA power also has water and dustproof coating.

Panasonic is yet to announce a release date or price for the ELUGA power.
