Smartphone maker announces OS upgrade for handset users
UK users of Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphones will soon be able to download latest version of Android operating system (OS).
The mobile phone manufacturer has already installed version 4.0 of the OS, colloquially known as Ice Cream Sandwich on its Nexus handsets, so the upgrade is expected to be welcomed by Galaxy S2 users.
The update is being rolled out this month first to users in Korea, Poland, Hungary and Sweden and is expected to be ready for UK users by 19 March.
The new OS has a number of fun features including features that improve a phone's touch screen. However, it will depend on how soon the user's network operator pushes out the upgrade and if a phone is unlocked as to how soon they can get the software onto their handsets.
Samsung it also has plans to upgrade its Note and Tab products with the new OS but no dates have yet been given.
