The Creative Sound BlasterAxx wireless speakers manage stereo sound from a single stack and include a microphone for online chat
Creative has launched a new range of Bluetooth wireless speakers called the Sound BlasterAxx. Available in three different sizes the Sound BlasterAxx can produce stereo sound from a single speaker stack as each unit has two sets of speakers pointing in different directions to produce a sense of space.
All the speakers in the range are powered from a standard USB cable. This can either be plugged into a computer or any USB power source including battery packs.
They can be connected to any PC, Mac, Android or iOS device with a Bluetooth adapter and there is a standard audio jack connection on the back for other devices such as portable music players.
The Sound BlasterAxx also includes two microphones so it can be used for making audio and video calls. There are several controls for improving the audio quality in calls. They can be used to block sounds from an area outside a set range in front of the speaker as well as general background noise.
This is possible because the Sound BlasterAxx has its own audio processor called the SB-Axx1. It can also be used to adjust the audio played from the speakers. One of these, the SBX Smart Volume, includes a Night Mode that prevents sudden loud noises causing a disturbance.
The Sound BlasterAxx SBX 20 and SBX 10 differ in the output power. The smallest model, the SBX 8, does not include Bluetooth. All models include a headphone socket and a stereo jack for a microphone or audio from a wired device. The Sound BlasterAxx SBX 20 will be available in August for £180. The SBX 10 and SBX 8 will both be available in July for £130 and £80 respectively.
