iPad and iPhone iOS features make the move to the Mac
Mountain Lion, the latest version of Apple's desktop and laptop operating system, will be available later today.
The news was sneaked out during Apple's third quarter financial results. Mountain Lion follows on from the previous version of OSX, Lion. Taking inspiration from the iOS operating system used on iPhone and iPad, Mountain Lion is now even more like Apple's portable offering.

First announced in February, Mountain Lion has better integration of Apple's iCloud service, Apple's iMessage messaging application and the Notification Centre well-known on iPad and iPhone. An integrated version of Facebook is due later this year.
OS X Mountain Lion will be available later today from the Mac App Store, priced at £13.99.
