O2 is offering free Wifi access to anyone, regardless of mobile network or broadband provider

Free public Wifi continues its crawl across London as O2 announces a raft of new hotspots covering the West End.

O2 said people on any mobile network or with any broadband provider could use the hotspots, with Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square and Regent Street all covered from the end of July.

People will need to sign up to the service first, with further connections to O2 hotspots happening automatically.

High Street Kensington, Exhibition Road, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Parliament Square will all be covered to some degree.

The announcement comes after a Computeractive investigation revealed how easy it is to mimic public Wifi hotspots and use them for criminal means.
