Barnes and Noble to bring Nook ebook reader to the UK

More than 2.5 million titles will be available in the Nook store, including books, newspapers, magazines and comics

Two versions of the Nook will be available when it launches in the UK later this year around mid-October

Nook ebook readers are coming to the UK for mid-October, with the Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight both available at launch.

Barnes & Noble, the bookseller behind the Nook ereaders, said it would be selling the devices through a new website, Nook, and be partnering with ‘leading retailers' on the UK high street and online.

More than 2.5 million titles will be available in the Nook store, including books, newspapers, magazines and comics. Both Nook ereaders launching int the UK have touchscreens and are WiFi only, with no 3G model available.

"We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of NOOK reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK," said William J. Lynch, chief executive officer at Barnes & Noble.

Prices for the UK are yet to be announced.
