Not quite laptop, not quite tablet - Sony jumps aboard the 'hybrid' Windows 8 bandwagon
Sony used its IFA 2012 press conference to throw its support behind Windows 8 with the Vaio Duo 11 the star of the show.
The hybdid laptop can also be used as a tablet and has a keyboard and a touchscreen. The Vaio Duo 11 has an 11.6inch screen with and weighs in at around 1.3kg. The quality of the screen and viewing angle were both impressive.

The high-end device has a powerful Intel Core i7 processor and the model on show came with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. It will also be configurable with a 128GB SSD and 2GB or memory.
Sony also said the Vaio Duo 11 will be supported by some new Vaio apps and software. Surprisingly the hybrid computer also has Near Field Communication (NFC), meaning other devices can be touched against it for sharing content.
As is the norm Sony stopped short of confirming the price of the Vaio Duo 11, but we can expect to see it by the end of October in the UK.
